Honoring our Stars

Each year our staff have the opportunity to nominate colleagues they feel not only do a wonderful job, but go above and beyond the call of duty for the Heart of Hospice Stars Award. This year our staff and volunteers have all risen above the challenges we faced, so it was exceptionally hard to narrow down the many nominations to only eight stars. NorthStar’s Movie Night and Art in the Park – Fun is a Fundamental Force

What do popcorn, movies, candy, cactuses, pots, scavenger hunting and magic carpets have in common? Kids and Fun. The creative staff of our child grief program, NorthStar came up with Outdoor Movie Night where families could ride a magic carpet with Aladdin while eating popcorn, candy and of course a soft drink. Several weeks later, Art in the Park gave our NorthStar kids a chance to participate in a scavenger hunt and plant a colorful cactus in a pot they painted. Te-Kisha’s Life and Legacy

It began as an idea to honor the late Te-Kisha Ferguson, through a fund that celebrated her legacy of giving back to our community. Te-Kisha’s Fund was established to help meet the unmet needs of our patients, such as groceries, utilities, linens and other needs that make daily living more comfortable.
