When Angels Get Their WINGS

Wonderful. Inspiring. Notable. Gracious. Service. These words are frequently used to describe our staff at St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care. We treasure these words in our hearts. Another phrase that we often hear from patients and families is, “You are our Angels.” “You are our Angels” inspired the WINGS Recognition Program. WINGS was created to honor team members who make a lasting impact on our patients, their families, or other team members. The first WINGS awards were bestowed at a recent All Staff meeting. An honored staff member shared, “Thank you for bringing attention to the many ways we uplift our

Memorial Day to Remember

By: Chandler Langevin, Veteran Services Coordinator Memorial Day is a very sacred time for staff and volunteers at St. Francis Reflections. As part of our ongoing commitment to Veterans, we traveled throughout Brevard County to render honors to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation. We LOVE our Volunteers

Our volunteers are a diverse array of caring individuals including working professionals, retirees, stay-at-home parents, students, and people who are exploring new careers and building new skill sets. Those who are interested in volunteering must be dependable, friendly and compassionate. It is not necessary to have medical or hospice experience. Each volunteer is asked to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per month. Most volunteers find that volunteering two to four hours per week with us is a very fulfilling balance. Those who have recently lost a loved one are advised to wait one year before volunteering with hospice patients.

Butterflies and Fairy Lights

After several days of pouring rain, the NorthStar team became concerned. “Would rain ruin the Butterfly Memorial for the NorthStar kids?” they wondered. Over 70 butterflies had arrived and were kept cool to prepare them for flight, but there seemed no end to the bad weather. Then, as if a switch had been flipped, Saturday morning arrived – cool and lovely with patches of clouds in the sky. Families showed up, ate donuts, drank coffee and juice while they made memory jars. Each precious jar held a loved one’s picture. Fairy lights glowed as the children lovingly placed the finishing touches
