Steve Griffin New St. Francis Foundation Board Member

When the foundation is looking to add a new board member, we look no further than our wonderful volunteers at St. Francis. We are delighted that Steve was willing to step up and be a part. The following was written previously but highlights how Steve gives back to his community. We would like to congratulate our amazing pet therapy and Veteran volunteer, Steve Griffin, on being the Space Coast Daily 2020 Humanitarian Award recipient for his work with St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Care. As a Veteran, Steve has the special ability to connect with our Veteran patients, providing them with both friendly companionship visits as well as beautiful Veteran pinning ceremonies for them and their families. Steve is a graduate of WestPoint and has a vast knowledge of the different military branches to help not only present a thorough background about the patient’s time in the service, but to also explain those details to their families in an effort to help them better understand the selfless sacrifice of their loved ones.  Steve also provides pet therapy services with the help of his trusty, furry companion, Sparky. Steve and Sparky are a wonderful pet therapy team that spread such joy as they make their visits to our hospice patients all over Brevard County. It is delightful to watch the patients and staff of nursing homes light up as Steve and Sparky walk through the door.

Steve and his wife are big advocates for animal welfare and adoption in the community. Steve has recently taken a role on the advisory board for St. Francis Reflections’ Pet Pledge Program, which helps hospice patients find loving homes for their animals as they approach the end of their lives. Steve and Sparky can also be found volunteering at nearby hospitals and cancer centers bringing smiles to the faces of all those they meet along the way!

Thank you Steve and Sparky for all of your amazing volunteer work. Again, on behalf of all of us at St. Francis Reflections, Congratulations.
