It is an honor and privilege to introduce Heart of Hospice honoree, Tanya Penley.
Tanya has worked with St. Francis for over four years and in that time has enriched the lives of so many people, not only patients, but everyone she meets. She is always willing to go above and beyond to help her patients ensure their needs are met and they also truly have the best quality of life possible. Assisting with holiday decorations for patients, singing with all the residents to bring them joy and even wearing fun and funky colored socks are just some of the ways she shows that hospice is about quality of life. Always going above expectations and her teammates love working with her.
Tanya understands the sacred work of hospice; as well through ensuring patients have “What Matters Most” to them. Recently, she worked with the Chaplain and the facility for a patient who wanted to have a fully submerged baptism before they passed away. Tanya held the patient while in a full body submersion baptism and ensuring they were surrounded in love and compassion during the entire service. In addition to working on the Lighthouse Team, she also is a vital member of the Sandpiper Team and doing everything she can to better the lives of the children that team serves. Tanya makes a difference in so many lives with her loving, compassionate care, particularly during her patient’s most tender life moments.
However, her time with patients and facilities are only part of her story. She devotes endless time volunteering for different committees and functions including the Employee Engagement Committee as well as through the North Star Program events like the summer carnival and holiday events. She is always willing to do anything she can to make life better for those around her.
She exudes compassion for everyone she cares for and truly embodies our company’s mission. It is my honor to work alongside her and it is my privilege to share a little bit of her heart with you.
Please join us in congratulating Tanya Penley, 2022 Heart of Hospice Recipient.
